The Peoples Choice Award

This Award is aimed squarely at promoting restaurants, nominated by readers for their unwavering commitment to making sure every member of a group, no matter what their age, is catered for when they come to eat. Here, we will be guided by you but judges will be looking for the personal touch, for restaurants which in some way mark themselves out for applause and for sheer passion and dedication to the task in hand.

Best Cafe/Deli

This awards is focused entirely on cafes and what they offer. Judges will be looking for places which do their own thing but do it well, often offering bespoke dishes, with a slick, well-drilled operation. Scrumptiousness rules the roost here.

Best Gastro Pub

This award recognises the gastro pub that offers an innovative menu, which suitably complements their drink selection. Judges are looking for evidence of quality dining, whilst not compromising on the traditional ‘pub’ atmosphere. Customer service should still be of a high standard.

Best World Cuisine

We are looking for a restaurant that provides a genuine international experience for their diners. The winner will provide outstanding food, excellent customer service and a real insight into their culture through both the dishes and the decor. We want to see what global delights are available right on our own doorstep.

Best Speciality

Sheffield has a lot of love for specialist cuisine. Are you serving up meat free meals with a tasty twist, flair and imagination? Then enter this category and share your story.

Best Fine Dining Experience

We don’t necessarily want to see highly-polished silver and starched white tablecloths, because that is not always the way of fine dining these days. The very best can be found in many and unexpected formats, but in this category we are looking for one quality – a venue that aspires for excellence in everything it does. We want this winner to strive for the best in surroundings, service, cuisine and presentation. 

Best Family Friendly

Tears, tantrums and ‘I don’t like anything’ is all part of the package when going out for family meals. We want to hear about the restaurants that a great kids menu, have that play area at the back of the room and where you won’t feel embarrassed for the spilt orange juice! 

Best Newcomer

Judges will be looking for entries that can demonstrate the impression they've made a relatively short space of time. Were looking for the impact rather than an established record. Open to those established since January 2019

Best Customer Service

Customer Service is at the forefront of a restaurant. From booking a table to catering for your dietary requirements, good customer service will always be remembered. With review websites ready to make or break a restaurant, this award is for those that shine above the rest.

Sustainability Award

Never before has carbon footprint, protecting the earth and a sustainable way of life been more relevant. We are looking for establishments that are conscious of waste, sourcing ingredients and being Eco, as well as, Taste-bud friendly.

Best use of Local Produce

You get out what you put in and so the saying goes. So this category is a big shout out to those cooking up a feast fit for a king with ingredients they have sourced in Sheffield, from the local butcher or foraged from a field. If it’s local and your customers love it, we want to know.

Overall Restaurant of the Year

This Award is the cream of the crop. The ultimate accolade for all our entrants. The winner will be chosen from each of the category winners. Chosen by the independent panel of judges, dedication and innovation will be key to the winner of this most prestigious award.

Chef of the Year

No one is more key to the success of a restaurant than its chef. The flair and skill of this person affects everyone else who works there, as well as the customer. We want to reward a chef who has shown inspiration and a desire to mold a restaurant in their form. We are looking beyond mere cooking skills to a person who can add that extra ingredient to create a staggering menu and take a restaurant to the next level.
